Loan Amount and Its Use

Under this scheme, interest-free loans ranging from Rs. 135,000 to Rs. 540,000 are provided to farmers owning five to twenty animals. These loans are given to meet the needs of the farmers so that they can improve the care and breeding process of their livestock. 30% of the loan amount can be withdrawn in cash, while the remaining amount can be spent on purchasing essential livestock supplies.

Loan Repayment Period

The loan repayment period in this scheme is also very simple. The loan repayment starts after a utilization period of six months, which proves to be a soft financial burden for the farmers. This makes it easier for the farmers to repay the loan amount, and they can manage adequate resources for their livestock.

Eligibility Criteria

Some essential conditions must be fulfilled to avail of a loan under this scheme. These conditions include:

  • Resident: The individual applying must be a lifelong resident of Punjab.
  • Registration in the Livestock Department’s system: The farmer must be registered in the Livestock Department’s system.
  • Presence of CNIC: The applicant must have a valid National Identity Card (CNIC).
  • Registration as a farmer: The applicant must be registered in his/her name as a farmer.
  • SIM Registration: The applicant should have a SIM registered in their name.
  • Credit History Verification: The applicant’s credit history should be verified through the Electronic Credit Information Bureau (ECIB).

Identity cards will be authenticated via NADRA and NACTA, while the Livestock Department’s Urban Unit will verify both the applicant and their livestock.

Although the last date for applying for the second phase has not been announced, Dr. Syed Nadeem Badar said that farmers who have repaid the loans given in the first phase will not need to reapply for the second phase. These farmers will be provided loans in the second phase on a priority basis.
